Introduction to brevet riding events with mild rolling hills in and
around Clermont, Florida, traveling to Inverness, Florida and other
small towns of South Central Florida, including a portion of the
Withlacoochee Trail. As the OTHER BREVET EVENTS get longer, the
terrain for each is progressively more challenging. Great training
ride for century and criterium endurance building.
Preregistration / Registration week of the event!
Please don't wait this long unless absolutely necessary. I need
time to process your registration, print personal brevet cards,
and have enough volunteer staff and equipment for the event. As
a minimum, please send in a complete registration via email 24
hours prior to the event.
Friday Evening (7 Jan 05): 6 PM - 8 PM
Check in and sign up for new registrants ($10 late charge) and
preregistered riders. Be prepared to show your lights.
Saturday morning (8 Jan 05): 6 AM
Preregistered only check in. Be prepared to show your
lights.
Saturday morning (8 Jan 05): 7 AM Start

Saturday morning (8 Jan 05): 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM
Start for people without light (see light requirements) and day
of event registrants.
At the day of event registrants:
All late registrants the morning of the ride will have to wait
till after the official start and still must make all the
controls check in time windows.
Light requirements:
We receive questions whether lights are required or not. Our
recommendation is to have lights. This is a Brevet, a
Randonneuring ride and not a race. Bring lights and see how they
work, attach and can be used for longer rides. Will they rattle,
fall off, work as indented? This is the best opportunity to
test.
However, we realize that some of you are fast riders, only want
to do the 200k and not ride at night time. So, if you are sure
that with any condition e.g. fog, mechanical break down, you
will only ride during the day, you don't need lights.
Specifically for this 200k it means,
you cannot start before
7:30 AM and have to be back before 5:30 PM. If you start
before 7:30 AM or come in after 5:30 PM without lights, your
status will be "Disqualified".
Bike Inspection:
Will take place outside the Holiday Inn Express under the
front entrance canopy, Friday evening 6pm till 8pm and 6am on
Saturday morning.
Results:
We had 46 sign up, four did not start (dns) 42 started, and
42 finished. Great job! Great Ride! Remember to sign up early,
NOW!!! for the 300km Feb 5, 2005. Consider joining RUSA if you
